#kelp #environmentalism #marketing #sustainability

"National Security Minister Patricia Bullrich said Bahia Blanca was "destroyed." " From a storm which brought as much rain in a few hours on Friday as the town receives in a year.

Looking at Google Earth, the whole city is blocks after blocks after blocks of 2-storey buildings without any parks anywhere.
The last storm in December 2023 also left collapsed houses and roads in ruins.
Maybe, just maybe, rebuilding efforts everywhere should start to include #sustainability considerations: build 6-storey houses, with 35m2 of heated/cooled living space per person, plus 15m2 per additional person, and add parks.
What good is science if its results are ignored, eh?

phys.orgArgentina port city 'destroyed' by massive rainstorm, 13 deadArgentina's port city of Bahia Blanca has been "destroyed" after being pummeled by a year's worth of rain in a matter of hours, killing 13 and driving hundreds from their homes, authorities said Saturday.

"Overpopulation isn't just a numbers game—it's a resource allocation crisis. The solution? Smarter cities, decentralized living, and a cultural shift from 'more' to 'enough.' The future thrives on balance, not excess. #Sustainability"

Dear Lovely Peeps:

An (re?) #Introduction might be in order. I have decided it is time to stop wandering & settle down in a nice sunny garden. 😊

I've been around since 2016, and wherever I am, I try to create a wee gentle eddy of peace & whimsy in my corner of the Fediverse. 😇

I have a #hope-full perspective. Am strongly influenced by #DoctorWho. 😄 Believe in a #SolarPunk / #HopePunk future. Manage to find small good things to celebrate every day. 🎉

Am interested in #FOSS, #travel, #photography, #sustainability, #accessibility, #reading, #writing, being #outside, #LowTech / #NoTech solutions, and a whole lot more.

(I have a neuro-spicy brain so 'a whole lot more' really is a LOT! 😄 )

Come in, have a scroll, and maybe breathe a little easier. I hope you enjoy your time here. 💛

Finally doing a #Introduction post after joining this instance.

I was on mozilla.social before it closed down (@mozillaofficial, you disappoint). I decided to start fresh.

My interests include #UrbanPlanning, #Cooperatives, #SmallBusiness, #OpenSource technologies, #Sustainability, anything #SolarPunk

My professional life and educational background touches on some of those things. But in this kind of space I just want to nerd with people.

Let's nerd out :blobcatnerd:

Cool article about a wind-powered, transatlantic cargo ship now taking passengers. I love the idea of a return to wind-powered sailing as an option for the global commute. A comfortable, lo-fi way to travel, with a carbon footprint 100x smaller than catching a plane. And apparently, you can bring unlimited luggage.
